London-based Blike offers both businesses and customers flexible subscriptions for e-bikes and e-cargo quadricycles. Available across the UK, Blike has a range of vehicles to choose from including folding, commuter and e-cargo bikes from renowned brands like Cowboy, Brompton and Cube. Its ‘subscribe to buy’ option lets customers try an e-bike at a reduced upfront cost, return it if they don’t like it, and buy it or lease it if they do.

Why it matters: A key barrier to e-bike ownership is cost. With its flexible subscription packages, Blike aims to reduce the upfront investment typically asked from customers and ease the risk.

“We address the affordability issue that makes the adoption of new micromobility products challenging for consumers and businesses – both the high upfront cost and the overall cost of ownership,” Blike’s CEO Tim Carrigan tells Zag Daily. Starting from £60 per month, Blike’s bikes cost less than half of a Zone 1 to 3 London travelcard, incentivising the use of active travel.
